Snehalata Thakur is a PhD candidate at the University of Auckland, where her research focused on “Understanding Evacuation Behaviour of People Under Emergency Conditions.” She explored human responses during emergencies to enhance disaster preparedness and evacuation planning, contributing to more efficient and human-centred response systems. As a Senior Transport Planner with over 8 years of experience, she specializes in policies and strategies related to city and transport planning, urban governance, and infrastructure projects. Snehalata Thakur did her masters from IIT Dehli and has worked on key projects across India, emphasizing sustainable development, disaster management, and the urban environment. She predicts human responses during emergencies and has collaborated closely with Civil Defense New Zealand, gathering their requirements through a questionnaire survey. Before that, Snehalata Thakur completed her bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from Kathmandu Engineering College, Nepal.
