PRISA and Islamia University of Bahawalpur Join Forces to Empower Youth and Promote Sustainable Development

Bahawalpur, Pakistan – September 16, 2024: The Policy Research Institute for South Asia (PRISA) and the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing capacities for youth employment and empowerment, with a strong focus on sustainable development across South Punjab and Pakistan. This collaboration is set to leverage research-based strategies and practical skills development programs, targeting youth and marginalized communities.
Both organizations recognize that capacity building is critical for advancing organizations and individuals alike. As part of the partnership, PRISA and IUB will conduct joint training sessions, webinars, and seminars aimed at promoting knowledge exchange and skill development. These events, at least two of which will be held annually, will focus on disseminating key research findings and sharing best practices in sustainable development and community empowerment.
In addition to this, the two institutions have committed to exploring funding opportunities to support communities affected by emergencies, especially in rural areas.
The signing ceremony took place at the Vice Chancellor Secretariat, Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus, IUB, and was attended by distinguished guests from both organizations. From PRISA, Mr. Zeeshan Hashim and Mr. Mohammed Jamshed Rizwani were present, while IUB was represented by Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Senior faculty and researchers, including Dr. Abid Rashid Gill, Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Roofi, Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha, and others from IUB, also participated in discussions on mutual goals.
This MoU marks the beginning of a robust partnership focused on creating a knowledge-sharing platform with special attention to marginalized groups and fostering community-driven development in South Punjab.
